This site features information about the Boston Fire Department's
Fort Hill Square Firehouse, its members, companies and
the history of the firehouse.

Fort Hill Square, also known as 'The Big House', is the home of
Engine 10, Tower Ladder 3, Rescue 1 and Division One.

Each shift has 14 officers and firefighters manning the companies assigned here.

Today the address of Fort Hill Square is 125 Purchase Street which is in the heart of the Financial District amidst many high-rise buildings,
of both business and residential occupancies.  The firehouse
itself is in the first two floors of a high rise office building.

Subways, waterfront, high-rises and highways are all in the
 first alarm district.

The original "Big House" in Boston was in Bowdoin Square with 2 engines, 2 trucks, water tower, district chief , a rescue and a lighting plant.  Today Fort Hill Square is the only firehouse in the city with more than two companies.
